An Alternate Future Ignored

This is an edited volume whose chapters all address MAGLEV. Aside from three introductory chapters, the remainder is broken into chapters that address an intercity MAGLEV network, public transit MAGLEV systems, an energy storage MAGLEV system, and individual chapters on applying a MAGLEV system for water transport and launch of space craft. One does wonder what the future of the USA might have been if such a grandiose application of MAGLEV was pushed by the federal government as the government had done for the railroad. Unfortunately we will probably never know.Note that there is no index for this volume.

Maglev is an American Construct

What are we waiting for? Maglev's time came over a decade ago. Investing now saves mountains of coal and billions of lost hours to millions of Americans. The technology exists, where is our courage to break ground? The author's do an excellent job of laying out why Maglev's potential is not only plausible, but vital.
