Dr. Philip Tate earned B.S. degrees in both mathematics and zoology and an M.S. in ecology from San Diego State University. He earned his doctorate in biological education from Idaho State University. Phil has taught anatomy and physiology to all levels of students: nursing and allied health, physical education, and biology majors.

Good, readable text

First off, the online material that accompanies the book is fantastic. You have access to a wealth of resources for each chapter on the book's site. The text itself is very well thought out. It is not overly verbose or technical...the text utilizes illustrations for almost every concept which I appreciate because reading it and seeing it are two different things...

Great book. Excellently organizes the material. It explains concepts very well and I would recommend this book for pre-med students. I took Anat and Phys 1 & 2 in a cram summer section and made high A's in both with the most difficult Dr. "dude".
Yeah, I forgot his name because I really was into the course.

I am happy with my purchase. The bookstores at the university charge so much it is unbelievable. My sister recommended Amazon.com to me and I will never buy a book from a university bookstore again. The books were in great condition even though they were used and the price was very affordable. Thank you Amazon.
